Therapy for Veterans

You Served Others. Now It's Time to Care for Yourself.

FOR FOLKS IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA & THROUGHOUT THE STATE

Military service asks a great deal of those who answer the call.

Whether you served in combat, supported missions behind the scenes, experienced military sexual trauma, or carried the weight of repeated deployments and transitions, your experiences matter.

Many veterans are accustomed to pushing through pain, staying mission-focused, and putting others first. Those strengths can be invaluable—but they can also make it difficult to recognize when it's time to ask for support.

Therapy offers a confidential, respectful place to process experiences, strengthen resilience, and reconnect with the life you want to live.

You Don't Have to Be in Crisis to Benefit from Therapy

Some veterans seek therapy because of a specific traumatic experience. Others come because they feel disconnected, overwhelmed, emotionally numb, or unlike themselves. You don't need to have a diagnosis or be in crisis to benefit from counseling.

You may be struggling with:

  • PTSD or trauma-related symptoms

  • Anxiety, chronic stress, or hypervigilance

  • Depression or loss of motivation

  • Anger or irritability

  • Sleep difficulties or nightmares

  • Difficulty adjusting to civilian life

  • Grief and loss

  • Military sexual trauma (MST)

  • Childhood trauma that has resurfaced

  • Relationship or family challenges

  • Feelings of isolation or disconnection

  • Life transitions after military service

Whatever brings you to therapy, we will work together at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

A Trauma-Informed Approach

Trauma affects more than thoughts and memories—it also impacts the nervous system, relationships, emotions, and sense of safety.

Our approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based trauma treatment. Together, we'll focus not only on reducing symptoms but also on helping your nervous system experience greater regulation, resilience, and balance.

Treatment is tailored to your unique experiences and goals rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

EMDR Therapy for Veterans

Many veterans find that difficult memories continue to affect them long after military service ends. These memories may show up as intrusive thoughts, nightmares, emotional triggers, avoidance, or feeling constantly on guard.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process traumatic memories so they become less distressing and no longer feel like they are happening in the present.

EMDR does not erase memories. Instead, it helps reduce the emotional intensity connected to them, allowing you to move forward without feeling controlled by the past.

EMDR Intensives

For veterans who prefer a more focused approach, EMDR Intensives provide extended therapy sessions over one or multiple days rather than traditional weekly appointments.

Intensives can be especially helpful if you:

  • Want to make meaningful progress in a shorter period of time

  • Are traveling for treatment

  • Have a demanding work schedule

  • Prefer immersive trauma treatment

  • Have one or more traumatic experiences you'd like to addresss

Each intensive begins with careful preparation and is individualized to your needs, goals, and readiness.

What Therapy Looks Like

Every veteran's story is different.

Therapy is collaborative. You remain in control of the process, and we move at a pace that respects your comfort and readiness.

Our work together may include:

  • Building emotional regulation skills

  • Understanding how trauma affects the brain and body

  • Processing traumatic memories when you are ready

  • Reducing anxiety, shame, or guilt

  • Strengthening relationships and communication

  • Improving sleep and stress management

  • Reconnecting with your values and purpose

  • Developing practical tools for long-term resilience.

A Space Where You Don't Have to Carry It Alone

Many veterans tell themselves they should be able to handle everything on their own. Seeking therapy isn't a sign of weakness—it is a decision to invest in your health, relationships, and future.

Whether you're navigating the effects of military service, processing trauma, or simply feeling stuck, you deserve a space where you can be heard without judgment. Healing is possible, and you don't have to do it alone.
