EMDR Therapy

FOR FOLKS IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA & THROUGHOUT THE STATE

EMDR is not about “fixing” you—it’s about helping your system do what it naturally knows how to do when given the right support.

What Is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people heal from trauma, distressing life experiences, and deeply rooted emotional patterns.

EMDR doesn’t require you to relive or retell your trauma in detail. Instead, it helps your nervous system process experiences that may be “stuck,” allowing emotional pain to soften and new, more adaptive beliefs to take hold.

How EMDR Works

EMDR is a structured therapy that uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, buzzing, tapping, or tones) while you briefly focus on aspects of a distressing memory. This process helps the brain reprocess memories that were not fully integrated at the time they occurred.

When traumatic or overwhelming experiences aren’t properly processed, they can continue to affect how you feel, think, and respond in the present. EMDR helps move these experiences from a state of emotional reactivity to one of resolution and clarity.

What EMDR Can Help With

You do not need to have a single, identifiable traumatic event to benefit from EMDR.

Many clients seek EMDR for chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, or patterns that feel hard to change despite insight and effort.

EMDR is well-researched and effective for a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Childhood trauma or attachment wounds

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Depression

  • Grief and loss

  • Medical or birth trauma

  • Performance anxiety

  • Phobias

  • Disturbing memories or intrusive thoughts

  • Negative core beliefs ("I’m not safe," "I’m not enough," "It was my fault")

What to Expect in EMDR Therapy

EMDR is a phased, collaborative process. We begin by building safety, trust, and emotional regulation skills before doing any trauma processing. Your pace always matters.

During EMDR sessions, you remain fully present and in control. Many clients describe the experience as intense yet empowering, with relief often emerging more quickly than with traditional talk therapy alone.

EMDR can be integrated with other therapeutic approaches and is always tailored to your unique nervous system, history, and goals.

A Somatic, Nervous-System-Informed Approach

My approach to EMDR is grounded in nervous system awareness and somatic principles. Trauma lives not just in the mind, but in the body. By honoring physical sensations, emotional responses, and internal cues, we support deeper and more sustainable healing.

This is not about “fixing” you—it’s about helping your system do what it naturally knows how to do when given the right support. I offer EMDR therapy in a safe, attuned, and client-centered environment.

Is EMDR Right for You?

EMDR may be a good fit if you:

  • Feel stuck despite insight or years of therapy

  • Are triggered by memories, sensations, or emotions you can’t fully explain

  • Want trauma healing without having to talk through every detail

  • Are ready for deeper, nervous-system-level change

If you’re unsure whether EMDR is right for you, we can explore this together during a consultation.
